The Intercontinental Hotel Malta is one of the newer hotels in the St Julian’s Golden Mile and it is now undergoing a major expansion so its safe to say that it is right up there with the very best. One can start with the location – right in the heart of Paceville and literally a few paces away from St George’s Bay which is also partly used by the hotel for its guests and clients. Although the area is notoriously noisy, the plethora of entertainment venues around will make a stay at the Intercontinental lively and uplifting.
The catering service is also pretty excellent in all departments. The sumptous Parange Restauarnt which is not actually on the premises provides an incredibly varied and wonderful menu for those who wish to sample fine dining at its very best. There are also several bars and restaurants inside the hotel itself that provide excellent service. One should also mention the Al Fresco gardens where breakfast is occasionally served, as well as WaterBiscuit which stays open till very late – this is a good option for those who dine at later hours than usual.
Facilities at the Intercontinental Malta are also of the highest standards. There are numerous conference rooms both for large as well as smaller meetings whilst there is also an excellent WiFi service provided throughout the hotel – the only snag is that this is not free and is rather costly. However there are no less than 30 conference rooms in the hotel with the largest capable of taking close to 1700 delegates – some of the most important conferences both on a local and international scale have taken place here. The outdoor and indoor pools are also of the highest standards – these are regularly patronised by guests so it would be wise to book your place early if you want to make full use especially during the summer.
The Intercontinental’s rooms are quite luxurious and literally ooze quality in every department, Beds are mostly king or queen size whilst the single option is also larger than normal. The finishings are also pretty excellent throughout whilst the bathrooms are beautifully finished. The ongoing expansion of the hotel which will add a further 100 rooms promises to provide suites and larger than usual rooms. The contemporary design of the hotel, its excellent catering as well as top notch conference and incentive facilities makes the Intercontinental one of the most exciting resorts in the five star segment.
